Doctor of Ministry.
The practitioner's doctoral degree for experienced ministry leaders. 36 credit hours, six concentrations, and a doctoral dissertation — advancing both the depth of your theology and the effectiveness of your practice.
Ministry Preparation & Professional Requirements.
Logos University offers ministry-focused counseling education for church, ministry, and nonprofit settings. Logos does not offer licensure-track counseling programs. The Master of Arts in Christian Counseling does not meet educational requirements for state-licensed clinical practice or qualify graduates for any state mental-health licensure examination. Students are responsible for understanding the requirements for faith-based counseling in their own state or country; a degree does not establish clergy eligibility.
Chaplaincy certification, endorsement, and employment requirements are set by each agency or endorsing body. The D.Min. in Chaplaincy does not qualify graduates for professional chaplaincy certification or employment, or meet military, VA, hospital, or correctional chaplaincy requirements. Logos does not provide ACPE-accredited Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE). Independently completed CPE may be evaluated for elective academic credit; acceptance is not guaranteed. Review your intended agency’s requirements before choosing a program.

The Doctor of Ministry is a 36-credit-hour applied doctoral degree structured around three components: a focused doctoral concentration, a flexible elective track, and a culminating dissertation in your ministry focus area that advances original scholarly and practical ministry work.
The D.Min. is designed for experienced ministry leaders — not an entry-level degree, but the next level of depth for those already engaged in active ministry. Six concentrations allow you to specialize in your area of calling while achieving doctoral-level rigor across the whole.

Elective Courses
Two doctoral-level courses. Broaden your formation beyond your concentration.
Six elective credit hours allow D.Min. students to broaden their doctoral formation beyond their primary concentration. Students may select any two doctoral-level courses from across the Logos curriculum — exploring adjacent ministry disciplines, addressing specific pastoral needs, or deepening theological expertise in secondary areas. Elective selections may be made in consultation with your academic advisor.
Culminating Work
Doctoral Dissertation
Original doctoral scholarship that advances your area of ministry calling.
The doctoral dissertation is the defining work of the D.Min. degree — a substantive piece of original scholarship that demonstrates doctoral-level competency in your concentration and makes a genuine contribution to the practice of ministry. Each student writes a dissertation in their ministry focus area.
The dissertation is completed under faculty supervision across three credit hours of guided research, and must demonstrate careful engagement with primary biblical and theological sources, relevant secondary literature, and the specific ministry context the work addresses. Proposal and committee approval are required before research begins.
The Doctorate Your Ministry Deserves.
The Doctor of Ministry at Logos University is designed for leaders who have answered the call and are ready for the deepest level of formation. Advanced doctoral theology, six specializations, and a culminating dissertation that leaves a lasting mark on the work God has entrusted to you.
