What Is the BBKE?
The Basic Bible Knowledge Exam recognizes biblical understanding gained through years of study, ministry, and personal devotion. By successfully completing this proctored exam, students may earn up to 15 credits toward an undergraduate degree, accelerating progress while honoring real ministry formation.
Exam Format
The BBKE is completed online in a single sitting and is strictly closed book. Once a section begins, it must be completed without interruption. Closing or refreshing your browser immediately ends the exam, and the score at that moment becomes final.
- Old Testament: 1 hour
- New Testament: 1 hour
- Advanced Old & New Testament: 30 minutes
Closed Book Requirements
To protect academic integrity, students complete the exam using only their personal biblical knowledge. The BBKE is designed to measure what you know, not what you can look up.
- No Bibles or printed materials
- No notes, study guides, or digital resources
- No online searches or external assistance
Proctor Requirements
A proctor must be physically present for the entire exam session. Both the student and proctor sign off at completion.
- The proctor may not be related to the student by blood or marriage
- The proctor signs the verification form after the exam
- The proctor confirms that no reference materials or online searches were used
Exam Fee
The BBKE exam fee is $75 and is non-refundable, plus $50 for each credit hour awarded. Once payment is submitted, the Online Administrator will contact you to schedule your exam.
Credit Awarding
Students may earn up to 15 credits based on exam performance. Credits awarded through the BBKE apply directly toward undergraduate degree requirements.
